So much to catch up on!!!
We had Ryan's Angry Bird party last weekend. HUGE success. He loved it, the kids loved it, the parents loved it (and subsequently thought I smoked crack HA) and I loved doing it for him. I'm proud of myself to be honest. I think I did a pretty good job. That will be a separate post on it's own though b/c I'll need to post pics for prosperity, of course.
Next. My hair. Oh. the. DRAMA. Cut it. (5 inches) Loved it. Decided I didn't cut enough. I'm like an addict. I cut and then I decide I can't cut enough. But, on top of that, I bought that new Suave At Home Straightening Kit and decided to try that (love it). So, B came over, cut my hair some more (7 inches total at this point) and then straightened it. The only problem was the cut was so not good. He took two inches off the bottom but truthfully, it was terrible. So crooked and chunky looking. I feel SO bad saying that but it was really awful. To be fair, he had just come off a long day at work and he was probably really tired. I know, I know but he's family and I don't want to talk badly about family. But the cut was really bad.
The kicker. With the straightening kit - I couldn't wash, wet, ponytail, do ANYTHING to my hair for TWO DAYS. So I had to walk around like that with no hopes of hiding. Had I actually READ through the pkg before the process I clearly would not have picked a Sunday night to go through this. Yes, my own fault. Full ownership here. So Kellie came over on Monday night to dry cut and try to even it out some. (so we're up to 8 inches cut off at this point) Which she was able to do. However. While she was doing that she noticed that my hair is REALLY jacked up. Which is NOT B's fault. Remember my trip to Avanti Salon on Newbury St? That I was so excited about? That I posted pictures about? Where I had my hair cut by the OWNER of the salon? Yes, I will never EVER recommend Avanti Salon to anyone as long as I live. It's not just the fact that the owner thought it okay to bash his hair stylist to a brand new client. It's not just the fact that the other stylists bashed their own in front of strangers and other clients. It's the fact that this man, the OWNER of a "high end" salon in Boston clearly has no damn clue how to cut someones hair. Now me, I am NO professional. So for me not to notice it over the past two (three?) weeks isn't something that would surprise anyone. Especially when I wear my hair curly a lot which hides most things. But once Kellie had to fix my hair and the straightening kit worked it's magic it is VERY easy to see what "T" did to my head. And holy hell, it's not pretty. My poor sister in law has her work cut out for her. (yep, I'll be losing more inches at this point lol) I can totally tell, feel and SEE what he did now. But I'm sure she'll be able to fix for me. Bobs are still in style, yes? I think that's what I'll end up with at this point LOL. Which, honestly, I'm okay with. Looking back at those old haircuts of mine I kind of missed that lil bob of mine!
More news. Weight loss. Always a bone of contention with me. You know this. I do The Biggest Loser challenges with a large group of friends. I never do well. I honestly think I sabotage myself doing competitions because the second I enter them I feel like I do the exact opposite of lose! That is when I gain the weight or I end up at a stand still. So I signed off. I said NO more. Guess what. It's working. From the start, from my highest, I am down 17.6lbs as of today. YES!!!! I am getting compliments. It is getting noticed. My boss, BTK, told me yesterday how great I am looking and that she has really noticed lately how much weight I have lost. Today I am wearing pants that I have been rotating in my closet for the past five years. With the tags on them. FIVE years people! I have never been able to take the tags off of them because I have never been able to wear them. You know how it goes - they are cute pants. You buy them because you say oh, I'll be able to fit into them by next spring/summer because I'll have lost the weight by then. Yeah, I'd been saying that over and over. I'd bring them down from the attic, hang them up at the beginning of the season with tags and then at the end of the season back up they'd go with those damn tags still on. Well, not today. Today those tags CAME OFF. This is SUCH a huge win for me. It's finally sinking in and I am so damn happy about it. I am only 8lbs away from wedding weight. I am so close!!!!!
My last bit of news is my LARGEST bit of news. I am absolutely, 100% saving the best for last on this one. I GOT THE PROMOTION!!!!!!!!!! Yes, yes, yes!!! I haven't announced anywhere. Only a few select know. I know it's safe to blog because there aren't very many that read my blog and I just have to get it out somewhere LOL.
First. I thank you Paula B. Stick it in your pipe if you read this woman - I'm THANKING YOU. You say you didn't do anything but you need to accept, at the very least, that if it weren't for you approaching me and telling me you think I'd be a great fit for the Marketing team - I would never have even KNOWN about the Admin role opening to begin with. Getting the Executive Assisant role is on me, yes, I get that. I did earn it. But YOU are the one who opened the door to let me into the house so to speak. So for that, my friend, I thank you.
I basically will continue doing the job I've been doing for the past six months but I have now officially earned the title of Executive Assistant. The announcement will be made next Tuesday to the team during our Town Hall and it will be "official" in the system as of June 1st. I'm so very excited and very grateful. I would never have had this opportunity on the NE Food Team. Moving into this role was the best step I could ever have taken. I'm looking forward the the next phase in my career! Wooot!!!
