Here's to my health

Yes, I'm toasting to my own health.
I'm keeping upbeat and positive.
I haven't told very many people....um.....less than a handful I'd say......that back in October my Dr found a lump.
You know me....or maybe you don't.....but I don't really tell people much about what is going on with ME. I'm the caregiver, the listener, blah blah blab blab.
I tend to keep to myself on my own issues.
So I'm saying it here really quickly.
Lump found in October. Mammogram and ultrasound follow at South Shore Hospital's Cancer Center.
Yes, we see it. 3mm (which I just have to say is larger than any of the five tumors I have already had removed in my past have been) size in left breast (yes, same breast all five previous tumors have been removed from) let's see what happens in three months.
Three months pass and I go back in for f/u ultrasound. Looky here, there it is again but now it's 4mm. Hmmmmm. Okay.
Come back in 3 weeks for a biopsy.
Is a biopsy normal next step instead of surgery?
How long ago did you have surgeries? Ummmmm...yeah, my memory sucks. I think 10 and 8 years? Or so? Give or take? I don't know lady, isn't it in my chart?! ;o)
Didn't your previous surgeon offer biopsy as a choice before? Why yes, yes he did but I really WANTED to have two surgeries that left me with huge (relatively speaking for the area they are on) scars and lots of scar tissue that make it THAT MUCH HARDER to do a self breast exam. Hardy har har. NO he didn't offer biopsy.
Oh, well a lot has changed. We'll start there.
Okay, thanks. So, January 25th at 10am I will be back at the SSH Cancer Center having a biopsy.
I'll keep you posted.

Great weekend

I know it's not officially over yet......I have one more day off.....but this has been a really great weekend. It's not often that I get real one-on-one time with any of my children, let alone a whole weekend.

John and the boys went up to Maine this weekend for an ice fishing tournament. (they didn't win anything) I LOVE that John wants to take trips like these with the boys. It's such a special time for the three of them to get some bonding in. I won't lie - I also like that it gives Erynn and I special Mommy and Daughter time. It's nice to have a girly weekend. The boys left at noon on Friday. Aidan was allowed to miss school but Ryan had to go to school because it was my day to volunteer in his classroom. (I love to do this every month!)

Erynn had daycare so I picked her up at 430p. She got to pick what she wanted for dinner....."chicken meal"......big shock there. But I indulged because she wanted it. Saturday I took her to see her very first in theater movie. We saw Tangled.

In the car on our way to the movie - yes ladies and gentlemen she is DivaLICIOUS.

It was a VERY cute movie and she LOVED it. She sat still and did so well through almost the entire movie. She did get up near the end but only because she had to use the restroom. Saturday night we had Five Guys Burgers for the first time. VERY good burgers. This place opened up about 15 min from here and the line was out the door. Very popular place. Today Erynn wasn't feeling so well so we called it a "jama" day and we relaxed. Well, SHE relaxed while I did about 8 loads of laundry and cleaned the house. But that's what Moms do so I'm not complaining!

John is taking the boys up to Maine again in a few weeks to spend some time ice fishing with his college roommate and his kids. I missed my boys for sure while they were gone (all 3 of them *wink*) but I fully admit that I'm excited to have another weekend with my little girl. Things won't always be this way so I plan to take full advantage while they are! I think maybe a Mommy/Daughter mani/pedi might be in the cards for our next weekend!

Tooth #2

has left the building..........er......mouth!

Yes, Aidan has lost another tooth! He was so excited - YES Mom! The tooth fairy gets to come again and leave me MORE money! We quickly informed Aidan that the tooth fairy always leave more money for the first tooth because it's a special tooth and not to expect as much for all his other teeth lol. He said of course I know that! Well okay smarty pants. He received a $1 gold coin for tooth number two and he was more than happy with that!

Recap

I must say I am pretty happy to see 2010 behind me. The last few years have been rough on this family and I am hoping that 2011 brings some well deserved and much needed changes.

A quick recap on the rest of our year:
The holidays went well. The kids had a wonderful Christmas and Santa was very good to them.
My sister came up for a visit over New Year's. She brought her (then) girlfriend (now) fiance, Jackie, and we all loved her. Can't wait for them to come visit again.
We had our Fourth Annual NYE Bash. Great time partying with lots of friends and their families.

I turned 34 without a hitch.

Now we're over halfway through January and I'm ready to get on with another year!
